Welcome to homeopathic garden. I decided to call my website Homeopathic Garden as I see this space as a place to grow stronger through homeopathy. I'm passionate about homeopathy and organic gardening – both contribute so much to a happy and healthy way of life. I think that you'll agree that it's a beautiful website and very healing to be surrounded by images of nature.

Over twenty years ago, I first used a homeopathic remedy for morning sickness with instant results. I preferring to use non-toxic medicines for my family, this led me to use homeopathy for everyday ailments. At that time, I lived in rural Galloway and helped two of my friends with their herb nursery. Here I learned about growing herbs, their medicinal and culinary uses. We had eight small children between us, so there were lots of grazed knees and wee bumps. The children called the small Arnica tablets that healed their bumps and bruises – "magic medicine". Coughs and colds often required Bryonia, Belladonna or Pulsatilla and gradually I became quite knowledgeable on using homeopathic medicine.

After a recurrent physical problem I consulted a homeopath who had just moved into the area. I found that constitutional treatment – a remedy given in high potency which closely matched my personality, symptom pattern and vital energy – changed my energy levels and psychological state, as well as the physical symptoms that I went to see the homeopath about. This was totally unexpected and proved to be life changing for me. I wanted to know more about what homeopathy could do at this level of treatment. I read everything that I could find on homeopathy but it wasn't enough.

After working as an archaeologist for many years, I decided to formally study my passion – homeopathy and become a professional homeopath. In 1996, I graduated from the London College of Classical Homeopathy (Edinburgh) and I hold the qualification of Licentiateship of London College of Classical Homeopathy. I joined the Society of Homeopaths as a student and am now a registered member hence the letters RSHom. I participate in Continued Professional Development with The Society of Homeopaths. Since graduating I have been a supervisor, counsellor and lecturer to homeopathic college groups. I have been involved in provings, both as a prover and proving supervisor on different homeopathic remedy provings. Finding new remedies to add the existing Materia Medica through 'provings' is a vital part of homeopathic advancement.

As time went on, I wondered what psychology had to offer a homeopath. Were they closely related in their study of human behaviour? I began to study for a BSc (Hons) in Psychology at Queen Margaret University College, Edinburgh. After two years on the British Psychological Society approved degree course, I found that my interest lay in Sociology and Social Research. Sociology provided inspirational reading by theorists, such as Erving Goffman in his writings about the public roles that we adopt as social actors then drop at them at the stage door when we return to our private lives. Antonio Gramsci's introduced the concept of cultural hegemony; how society can be ruled by a group or class with shared beliefs through cultural domination. The feminist and sociologist Ann Oakley's studies on the everyday lives of women and mothers along with her work on qualitative research methodology. Michel Foucault on his critique of medicalisation, surveillance medicine and discourse. My understanding of the workings of society has a resonance with their work, I felt compelled to study more. I transferred to The Open University and choose to study Social Research to complete my BSc (Hons). It was challenging to study full time while running my clinics at the same time. I've learnt so much from my homeopathic training and my degree work. I blend them together to understand people as individuals and the influence of society on all of our lives. My educational trajectory has not been school – university as is the norm; I’m a life long learner, so who knows what’s next.

At the moment, I'm concentrating on researching the use of homeopathic treatment and fertility. Before homeopathy entered my life, I read, learnt and lived fertility, pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding. I practiced pre conception care and fertility awareness. Many of my clients come to see me concerning fertility, pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding. I enjoy helping clients to discover their inner power to create and nurture new life.

I run several clinics for people of all ages and conditions. I particularly like seeing little clients – children and babies are so interesting to observe as they have not developed the social behaviours that obscure their nature. They are such rewarding clients as they bounce with vitality when they get well.
